Game Plan Needs

Game Plan Needs
For modeling digital age work and learning and promoting digital citizenship I think I have some pretty good resources. I coach golf and miss a lot of school so I purchased a tablet. This is an essential tool for communicating digitally with students, parents and the global classroom. In the past I would take pictures and video but got frustrated when I tried to download to my web page or just forgot to make use of the digital records. I knew I had good stuff but something always came up and presenting student work always got left behind. The tablet lets me record, shoot, display and communicate in a matter of minutes. It has helped my one on one instruction with students as well but it has really helped me deliver finished work to an audience beyond our classroom. I will be setting a specific section on my school webpage for Applied math class projects. I will have our tech leader get me on the schools homepage when we have thoroughly completed some quality projects.
Our economics class does a lot of research on individual topics and I will be monitoring the sites our students use. Students forward me the links to sites they are considering and we discuss some in class or by digital communication. I am fairly new at determining the useful sites but I am using some recent Walden courses to get me going and it seems to be working ok. One bit of a problem I may have run into is requiring that research papers include at least 4 non-commercial sites but our students are having a hard time finding non-commercial sites. I would appreciate any advice in this category.

  1. I have had success with freerice.com in the past and I look forward to exploring the other site you have mentioned. Thanks for the input!
I was lucky to get a tablet for $200 to help me get through golf season (I miss 7-10 days of school each year) and it has proved to be an irreplaceeable tool. The data is $30 a month and that is expensive. I have heard of an application that will enable me to run my school laptop/lcd from my tablet so I can move around the room more freely IO should be able to help more students and hopefully get the school to pay for the data usage. I will let you know how that goes!
